Updated: 3 November 2026. Prices and ratings below were checked on Amazon.in and the official TTK Prestige shop on that date.
Short answer: buy Prestige if you want better-rated cooktops with more safety claims. The Prestige PIC 20 (1600 W, 8 Indian presets) at about ₹2,199 is the best value for most kitchens. Buy Pigeon if the lowest price is what matters. The Pigeon Cruise (1800 W) costs about ₹1,599 and is Amazon.in's #1 bestselling induction cooktop, but it has a lower 3.7/5 rating and frequent complaints about cracked glass.
Both are Indian brands and all six models we checked list India as the country of origin on Amazon. Both give a 1-year warranty on these models, but Prestige adds a 3-year coil warranty on two of its cooktops. Here is the full comparison.

Good to know
The Cruise, Acer Plus and Favourite were in stock on Amazon.in, but they are not listed on Pigeon's own current induction catalogue page, which shows newer lines such as Stella, Glo and Rapido. They may be older models still sold by retailers. Also, Amazon's PIC 6.1 V3 page says 2200 W in one place and 2000 W in another; the official TTK page says 2200 W.
Features that matter in an Indian kitchen
Indian presets. All three Prestige models have one-touch menus for pressure cooking, curry, dosa or chapati, idli, deep frying, milk and keep-warm. They set the power for you, which helps if you are moving from gas. Pigeon's Favourite and Acer Plus also have presets, but the cheapest Cruise is manual temperature only.
Whistle counter. The Prestige PIC 6.1 V3 counts pressure-cooker whistles and switches off automatically. If you cook dal and rice in a cooker every day, this is the feature worth paying extra for.
Power: does 2000 W matter? Higher wattage heats faster, but it does not mean lower electricity bills. The 1600 W PIC 20 is enough for daily cooking for most small families. If you boil large pots or cook for five or more, the 2000 W PIC 16.0 Plus is the step up. Prestige lists a 15 A plug on its 2000 W and 2200 W models, so make sure you have a matching socket.
Voltage protection. Prestige advertises 4 kV surge protection and automatic voltage regulation, useful in areas with power fluctuations. These are brand claims, but Pigeon's listings do not make the same surge-protection claim.
Cookware. Both need flat-bottomed iron or magnetic stainless-steel pans. Pigeon recommends a base of 12 to 20 cm for the Cruise. Ordinary aluminium will not work. Our guide to the best cookware for induction cooktops explains what to buy, and our induction not heating fixes help if a pan is not detected.
Reliability: what buyers report
From Amazon.in review summaries and recent reviews on 3 November 2026. These are buyer reports, not failure rates.
| Model | Buyers praise | Buyers complain about |
|---|---|---|
| Prestige PIC 20 | Easy to use, value for money, quick everyday cooking | Some units stopping early, cracked glass or body, warranty experiences |
| Prestige PIC 16.0 Plus | Fast heating, simple controls, useful presets, easy cleaning | Early breakdowns, glass cracking after months, occasional defective units |
| Prestige PIC 6.1 V3 | Easy to use, useful features | Slow heating or water boiling, failure within months, service concerns |
| Pigeon Cruise | Easy to use, fast heating, low price | Repeated reports of glass cracking, units stopping soon after purchase, button faults, service |
| Pigeon Acer Plus | Easy operation, quick cooking | Glass breakage, units malfunctioning after days or months, uneven heating |
| Pigeon Favourite | Low cost, lightweight, simple | Side or body cracks, failure after a few months |
Glass cracking shows up for both brands. To reduce the risk: do not drop or slide heavy cookers onto the glass, keep the plate on a flat surface, avoid empty-pan heating, and let the fan cool the unit before you move it.
Warranty, service and certification
- Prestige: 1-year product warranty on all three; the official TTK pages add a 3-year coil warranty on the PIC 16.0 Plus and PIC 6.1 V3. TTK says it has service centres across India with home and in-store support and a store locator. Service line: 080-46824000.
- Pigeon: 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Stovekraft support: +91 63649 14202, customercare@stovekraft.com, plus a service locator.
- BIS: TTK's pages describe all three Prestige models as BIS certified (we did not check the BIS database ourselves). No BIS/ISI claim was visible on the Pigeon listings, which means unconfirmed, not absent.
- Energy claims: Pigeon advertises “93% energy-saving technology” (Cruise) and “35% savings vs LPG” (Acer Plus). These are marketing claims. BEE runs a voluntary star label for induction stoves, but none of these six showed a star rating.

Frequently asked questions
Which is better, Prestige or Pigeon induction?
Prestige is better rated (4.0 vs 3.7 to 3.8 on Amazon.in), has more presets and adds surge-protection and coil-warranty benefits. Pigeon is cheaper. For daily use we would pick Prestige; for a backup cooktop, Pigeon is fine.
Is the Pigeon Cruise induction good?
It is the bestseller because it is cheap and easy to use. But its 3.7/5 rating from 77,026 reviews and frequent reports of cracked glass mean you should handle it carefully and keep your invoice.
Does a 2000 W induction use more electricity than 1600 W?
Not necessarily. A higher-wattage plate heats faster, so it runs for less time. Your bill depends on what you cook and for how long. Our induction vs gas guide covers running costs.
Can I use my pressure cooker on an induction cooktop?
Only if its base is induction compatible (magnetic). Many newer Prestige and other cookers are marked induction base. A magnet test is the quickest check.
Is an induction cooktop worth it in India?
For many homes, yes, especially as a second burner or in rented flats. Read is an induction cooktop worth it for the full picture.
