Preethi vs Sujata Mixer Grinder (2026): Which Is Better for Indian Kitchens?

Updated: 3 November 2026. Prices and ratings below were checked on Amazon.in on that date.

Short answer: choose Sujata if you grind a lot of idli and dosa batter, masalas or hard spices. All three Sujata models have 900 W motors rated for 90 minutes of continuous running and score 4.5/5 on Amazon.in. Choose Preethi if you want a lower price or a food processor that kneads dough, chops and grates. The Preethi Blue Leaf Diamond at about ₹3,499 is the best budget buy, with a 2-year warranty and lifelong free service.

Both are trusted Indian names. Preethi has served customers since 1978 and is now part of Versuni (the former Philips Domestic Appliances). Sujata says it has 46 years of engineering experience and that its mixers are made in India by Mittal Electronics. Here is how six current models compare.

Spec slip to ignore

Amazon's spec field for the Sujata Supermix says 250 W, but the same page's title and description, and Sujata's official page, say 900 W. We use 900 W.

Motor, jars and features: what actually differs

Motor power and duty. Sujata's 900 W motors are rated by the brand for 90 minutes of continuous running, with copper winding and double ball bearings. That is why Sujata is popular in South Indian homes that grind large batches of idli and dosa batter several times a week. Preethi's 750 W motors are enough for daily chutneys, masalas and smaller batter batches. Wattage tells you power draw, not how fine the grind will be, but more power helps with hard items like turmeric or dry chillies.

Jars. Sujata's Dynamix comes with three steel jars and three interchangeable blades for the wet jar. The Supermix and Powermatic Plus swap the steel wet jar for a 1.75 L transparent liquidiser, which is handy for milkshakes and lassi. Preethi's Diamond has a clever Flexi lid that reduces the 1.5 L jar to 1 L for smaller quantities.

Food processor. Only Preethi offers this here. The Zion and Zodiac knead chapati dough, chop onions, slice and grate. If you make rotis every day, that can replace a separate food processor. The trade-off is more parts to wash and store.

Juicing. The Preethi Zodiac has a centrifugal juicer jar and citrus press. The Sujata Powermatic Plus has a juicer attachment that buyers praise for extraction. Both get mixed comments about cleaning the juicer mesh.

Reliability: what buyers report

From Amazon.in review summaries on 3 November 2026. These are buyer reports, not failure rates.

ModelBuyers praiseBuyers complain about
Preethi DiamondQuality, ease of use, valueNoise; mixed grinding results; some small-jar, motor and crack reports
Preethi ZionEasy chapati dough, useful processorNoise, small jars, mixed processor and jar durability
Preethi ZodiacFood processor, kneading, versatilityLoud; juicer jar hard to clean or leaking; mixed attachment durability
Sujata DynamixPowerful, fast and fine grinding, sturdy buildNoise opinions vary; some jar-handle cracks, cleaning effort
Sujata Powermatic PlusMotor power, juice extraction, valueNoise mixed; juicer mesh durability and cleaning
Sujata SupermixQuick, heavy-duty grinding, sturdyNoise varies; small dry jar; occasional lid or fit issues

Noise comes up for both brands, which is normal for powerful mixers. Sujata's consistently higher rating (4.5 vs 4.0 to 4.2) suggests buyers are happier overall with its grinding performance and build.

Warranty, service and safety

  • Preethi: 2-year product warranty and lifelong free service (no labour charge) in India. After the warranty, replaced parts may be charged, and home-service travel charges can apply. The Zodiac adds a 5-year motor warranty. Service: +91 99400 00005.
  • Sujata: the official policy gives all mixer grinders a 2-year warranty, with authorised service centres, doorstep support and spare parts. One conflict: Amazon's Powermatic Plus listing says 1 year, so check the warranty card. Service: 1800 102 2758 or +91 97113 22758.
  • Safety standard: since 1 May 2019, mixers, grinders and juicers sold in India must meet IS 4250 under compulsory BIS certification. Look for the ISI mark and licence number on the box. We did not verify individual licences for these models.
